No Kiwi Pope

At least according to the only New Zealander who will take part in the conclave, Thomas Cardinal Williams. When asked by a TVNZ journalist how he rated his own chances, he replied that he thought it would be impossible for him to become Pope "I simply don't have the qualifications".

Hi there Antipodean

I don't know about you but I feel kind of a real void now. It's like I have truly lost a spiritual father. Everyone else is feeling it I'm sure, but I'm actually surprised at how personally I'm feeling this. It's a true testament to JPII that many millions feel that way.

Of course, the next Pope will be the right one (we both know why) and the faithful will love him just as much.

On that subject, my personal thoughts boil down to one thing: will the next Pope have some kind of connection with the Benedictines?

MrTips, care to share with us how you are sure the next Pope will be the "right" one?

I suspect our Roman brethren would say its something to do with the Holy Spirit.

I too am feeling the loss of the Holy Father in a particularly personal way which has taken me by surprise. I knew I would be saddened when the day came, but did not anticipate that it would bring me to tears. Due to my work schedule I hadn't been able to watch the full funeral until today, and again I was brought to tears several times. St John Paul the Great (as he will surely be known very shortly) has been the only Pope I have known, and his loss is felt deeply. However, like MrTips, I am sure that the Lord will send us another faithful and holy supreme pastor who will grow to be much loved by us, his sheep. As to why, this member of the Roman brethren certainly would say it has something to do with the Holy Spirit.
